3.) Invitation to Participate
- We believe that a union is only as strong as its membership
- This is OUR union, and there is a place for everyone who wants to get involved – working representational matters or helping plan social events or helping decorate the ONEU office, for example.
- We encourage you all to get involved and will be providing many many opportunities to do so. If you want to be more involved, we will make it happen, just ask!
4.) Global Updates and Announcements
ONEU Website
- The website will share news, updates, events/calendars, celebrations, etc. If you have ideas, please share!
ONEU Office
- The ONEU office is getting a complete overhaul, paid for by NATCA.
- Conference space/Staff Lounge – big table, chairs, white board
- A space for staff to use and work on projects and be comfortable – hoping to offer a place to make tea, coffee, have snacks and unwind.
- If you have ideas or feedback about design / decorating, please share with us!
NATCA-ONEU Luncheon
- Joint welcome back lunch will be forthcoming.
Public Affairs Administrator Conversion
- Unique opportunity to discuss this position description & worked with previous BUE in that position to make a case that the position should be upgraded, and we got NATCA to agree.
- We’ll be talking about PDs and classification with NATCA in the future. Please provide any feedback/ideas you have to the e-board.
Birthday SOPs
- We are excited to join our members in observing important moments in your lives. We are looking forward to sharing good news, and comforting during difficult times — collectively, together, as one union.
- If you have a life event you want to share with us, we are happy to keep it confidential and join you in solidarity as an e-board, or share with our membership body and celebrate together! ONEU will be able to announce good news occasions to all members via ONEU communications (i.e., web and newsletter).
MyNATCA
- NATCA met with ONEU last week to provide updates regarding its intention to carry out the UnionWare functionality to MyNATCA and eventually GATS
- Timeline: aiming for October 2022
- Work of some staff could be affected, but we’ll have the opportunity to provide feedback, questions/concerns prior, and training will be a part of that.
- We’re developing a list of questions and will keep you posted when we have more to report.
- NATCA has an IOU about GATS replacement concerning MyNATCA
LMC meeting
- Participants: ONEU e-board, Chief of Staff, General Counsel, and usually Asst GC (currently vacant) and another director (recently Nicole Vitale)
- Most recent LMC was a casual lunch and meet and greet with the new ONEU e-board.
5.) Update on Telework
- We still have limited leverage, as NATCA management does not legally, contractually or statutorily have to discuss telework with us until the telework article can be reopened in a year (April 2023).
- However, NATCA has agreed to talk to us about telework and will work with us to expand telework in the coming months.
- We are waiting on NATCA’s proposal and will evaluate it. We will do everything we can to make telework as equitable and palatable for everyone. We’re keeping in mind that we have minimal leverage to exert and, if we come in too hard, NATCA could withdraw proposals and no expansion would be possible this year.
- We will keep you posted once we have updates.

PRIDE 2022
- ONEU is joining NATCA in marching with NATCA’s Pride Parade float.
- June 11, 3 – 7:30pm, likely meeting/parking at the national office to walk to the start together. Guests / Family / Friends are welcome! Local NATCA members will also be invited.
- NATCA is providing shirts to ONEU BUEs who are joining the parade, so let us know if you are coming, and provide your shirts size to May Silverstein NO LATER THAN MONDAY, MAY 2.
8.) Future Meetings
- Bi-Monthly ONEU Meetings upcoming: June 29, August 31, October 26 (last Wed of every other month)
- In months without meetings, we are planning to host ONEU social events. Please share your ideas and preferences / availability with the e-board!
