Keturah Johnson, International Vice President of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), visited the NATCA National Office in Washington for a luncheon with NATCA’s staff members. The Organized NATCA Employees Union (ONEU) invited Keturah to speak to the staff about her experience throughout her career as a leader in diversity and inclusion across industries.
Keturah began her term as AFA-CWA International Vice President in June 2022, making her the first queer woman of color and combat veteran elected to serve in the role. The luncheon’s passionate conversation covered a broad range of topics, including issues affecting flight attendants and the aviation industry, mental health, and the importance and power of unionizing in every industry and every size organization. Johnson and ONEU members discussed the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on not just the aviation industry but on the labor movement and workers nationwide. Johnson also spoke about AFA’s participation in the flight attendants’ day of action and the ongoing fight for fair and equitable treatment of aviation professionals globally.
